9to5chic-david-yurman-19to5chic-david-yurman-29to5chic-david-yurman-39to5chic-david-yurman-49to5chic-david-yurman-5 Growing up, we always celebrated Lunar New Year with our extended family, the Vietnamese way: one by one wishing our elders good fortune for the New Year. It was strictly formal; all eyes were on you when it was your turn to wish your aunt or grandparent a year of health and happiness (and other wishes, if you knew how to say it fluently!). I’m 5th eldest of 16 grandchildren who grew up spending weekends together at our Grandparents’ house, but it was still a squeamish, nerve-wracking moment for me every year. But we were always rewarded with red envelopes and a few words of wisdom from each of our elders.

It’s that time of year again, with Lunar New Year coming up on January 28th and it’s the year of the Rooster. I’ve partnered with David Yurman to share how I style some of my favorite pieces from their latest Lunar New Year collection. Faceted garnet (for good luck!) and shimmering 18K gold make the prettiest combination.

As a first year generation Vietnamese-American, the old Lunar New Year family tradition is important to me. I’d love to find ways to share the tradition with Lucia, even if it’s without the formality. Did you grow up with Lunar New Year traditions?

Thank you for stopping by and an early Chuc Mung Nam Moi from my family to yours!
