Vested

Ah. Well, where does one start in the time of COVID-19?
These last several weeks (and months) have put us on high alert. The news is incredibly sad and worries us tremendously.
We are worried for our parents (my mom underwent lung surgery last year), our elders, the high-risk population, our medical professionals, grocery store staff, the list goes on.
We need to do our part in flattening the curve so that our hospitals and healthcare staff can do everything they can to take care of those with severe illness.
For us, that means we have been self-isolating, staying home, cooking all our meals. We were able to take one quick walk around the neighborhood during a break in the rain this weekend (staying away from others, not touching anything). We’ve been playing a lot of games together: a homemade treasure hunt, an 800 piece puzzle, backgammon and rummykub, and we engaged in quiet time for solo reading. So far so good, although I’m guessing we may still have many days and weeks ahead of us. We know we’ll have to work at keeping things fun and interesting for Lucia (and ourselves!).
Sending you virtual hugs and wishing you and your loved ones health and safety. Under the most difficult circumstances, this does present an opportunity: for us all to come together as humans, to care for our neighbors near and far, to show compassion for those who are sick or less fortunate, to show endless appreciation to those who continue to work everyday to keep us safe.
We can do this. I believe in that.
