I spent my first full day away from Kellan (with help from my parents thankfully!) and missed him dearly. I had all but given up on pumping within the first month of his life and was pleasantly surprised to find that pumping while I was away from him wasn’t too bad anymore! Everything in that first month of newborn life is so much harder – a reminder to give yourself grace as a new mom, but especially in those first weeks when everything feels so overwhelming.

PS: I have absolutely failed at a “return to normalcy” even three months out! I can count the number of times I’ve cooked dinner since giving birth on two hands!
