Spring Things: Jackets

February 21, 2025

I would say that jackets are my closet workhorses. It might have something to do with my intolerance to severe weather (ok, let’s be honest, anything not within the range of 68-72 degrees is considered severe in my mind, ha!). But also, because it doesn’t matter what I wear underneath, it’s always the jacket that I see first.

So as I take a look at all the new Spring collections arriving in stores lately, I’m eyeing the jackets first. There are a few common threads I’m seeing: color-blocked collars, high hip-length cuts (slightly less cropped than we’ve seen lately), lots of leather and utilitarian styles.

I identify with classic style through and through, but to modernize I do like looking at trends and seeing how I can make certain styles feel more like me. For example: that sleeveless utilitarian zipped style? Could I pair that with a beige midi skirt? Or how about the oversized leather jacket? As an over-the-shoulder coat I feel like I could pair it with something feminine.

Happy Spring shopping!
