Getting ready for Fall and my return to work in a few of Ann Taylor’s new arrivals (although thankfully I have quite a few more weeks before heading back to work!). Dressing my post-pregnancy body has been a fun challenge and I’ve found that some shapes definitely work better than others. Here’s what I’ve learned:
- Yes to peplum details. These have the potential to do wonders for post-partum waistlines (i.e. nonexistent waistlines!). The key is to avoid body skimming versions and go for more structured fabrics. This Ann Taylor blazer is the perfect example, although I’m also loving this version blazer too.
- No to tight sweaters in light colors. They’ll only highlight areas that I’m not yet confident to highlight.
- Yes to modest heels. The extra height helps – but not too tall for wobbly ankles that have spent prior months mostly in flats. Bonus points for a very now cap-toe detail. 🙂
- When in doubt, go dark. The old saying rings true – black is slimming!
PS: Ann Taylor is hosting the #chiclifestyle contest – share a moment of your brilliant, busy life on the social channel of your choice (Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram) for the chance to win a $1000 gift card for a chic new Fall wardrobe. Full details and entry form here!
